Parama Ekadashi 2025: The Rarest and Most Powerful Ekadashi That Destroys Poverty and Fulfills Every Wish
June 11, 2025 | Purushottam Maas Special | Spiritual Wellness
Have you been struggling with financial problems, crushing debt, or a streak of bad luck that just will not end? There is one fast coming up this June that astrologers and Puranic scriptures have called the single most powerful remedy for all of it. It is called Parama Ekadashi, also known as Durlabha Ekadashi, and it falls inside the sacred Purushottam Maas, an extra month that appears only once every 30 to 32 months in the Hindu lunar calendar.
This is not a regular Ekadashi. This is the one you have been waiting for.
What Is Parama Ekadashi and Why Is It Called Durlabha?
The word Parama means beyond supreme. Something that is purer and more elevated than anything else. And Durlabha means extremely rare, something that cannot be easily obtained.
Both names together describe exactly what this Ekadashi is. It arrives only during Purushottam Maas, and Purushottam Maas itself only comes once in roughly two and a half years. So the window to observe Parama Ekadashi is extraordinarily narrow.
Puranic texts teach that this single fast, observed with sincerity and proper ritual, carries blessings equal to performing an Ashwamedha Yajna or donating pure gold. It wipes out sins committed unknowingly, removes deep-seated poverty, and liberates a person from the burden of debts.
The Puranas record that Lord Kuber himself, the divine treasurer, observed this Ekadashi to earn Lord Shiva's grace and rise to the position of wealth keeper of the gods. King Harishchandra, the symbol of truth and integrity, observed it during his darkest period of suffering and regained everything he had lost.
Exact Dates and Timings for Parama Ekadashi 2025
Ekadashi Tithi Begins: June 11 at 12:57 AM (midnight going into Thursday) Ekadashi Tithi Ends: June 11 at 10:36 PM Fasting Day: Thursday, June 11, 2025 (full day) Paran Time (breaking the fast): Friday, June 12, between 5:23 AM and 8:10 AM
Mark these timings carefully. The paran window is firm. Breaking the fast outside this window reduces the spiritual merit of the entire observance.
The Complete Step-by-Step Ritual for Parama Ekadashi
Step 1: Preparation on Dashmi (Wednesday, June 10)
The fast begins mentally and physically the day before. On Wednesday, eat only simple, vegetarian, grain-based food. Avoid non-vegetarian food, onion, garlic, and spicy items. Maintain brahmacharya (celibacy). Sleep on the floor or a simple mat as an act of humility and surrender.
Step 2: Sacred Bath on the Morning of the Fast
Wake up early on Thursday before sunrise. Add a small amount of amla powder (dried gooseberry powder) to your bathwater. Bathe with this mixture first, then follow with clean water. This ritual bath purifies the body and prepares it for the day of devotion.
Step 3: Take the Vow (Sankalp)
Sit facing your home altar or deity. Hold a small amount of water in your right hand, close your eyes, and hold your specific intention or wish clearly in your mind. Formally declare that you are observing the fast of Parama Ekadashi in Purushottam Maas for the fulfillment of your intention. Then gently release the water onto a clean, sacred spot on the ground or in a plant. This sankalp seals your commitment for the day.
Step 4: Tilarchan for Lord Vishnu
Recite the Vishnu Sahasranamam, the 1000 names of Lord Vishnu. With each name, offer either a pinch of white sesame seeds (safed til), fresh flower petals, or a lotus flower onto the deity. This offering done 1000 times is one of the most powerful acts of devotion you can perform on this day.
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya
Step 5: Offer Akshat, Flowers, and Sacred Powders
Offer whole, unbroken rice grains (akshat), fresh fragrant flowers, flower garlands, and if available, traditional powders like abeer and gulaal. These offerings represent purity, fullness, and joyful surrender.
Step 6: Fruit Bhog Offering
Offer a fresh selection of seasonal fruits and dry fruits (meva) to the deity. Do not offer any grain-based food or cooked items on Ekadashi.
Step 7: Tulsi Leaf Offering
Offer fresh tulsi (holy basil) leaves to the Shaligram or Vishnu idol. This is a deeply beloved offering for Vishnu.
Two important rules here:
Do not pluck fresh Tulsi leaves on the day of Ekadashi itself. Collect them the day before. If no leaves are available, perform a mental offering with eyes closed, imagining yourself placing tulsi at the feet of the Lord with full devotion. This mental bhog (mansik bhog) is accepted completely.
Never offer tulsi onto a Shri Yantra.
Step 8: Aarti and the Day of Fasting
Perform the full aarti with devotion. Distribute fruit prasad to the family. Spend the day consuming only fruits and water. If you are physically healthy and spiritually inclined toward deeper tapas, you may observe a water-only fast (nirahar vrat).
The Night Vigil: Ratri Jagran Is Essential
On most Ekadashis, staying awake through the night is recommended. On Parama Ekadashi, it is considered a core part of the observance. The night vigil multiplies the merit of everything done during the day.
Ways to spend the night of June 11:
Reciting the Vishnu Sahasranamam Chanting Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya or Om Namo Narayanaya on a mala Reading from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita Reciting the Gajendra Moksha Stotra, a powerful prayer about total surrender and divine rescue
Even sitting quietly in meditation or bhajan through the night counts. The point is to keep the mind on the Divine and not let sleep break the spiritual energy of the day.
Who Should Definitely Observe Parama Ekadashi?
Anyone facing persistent financial difficulties or debt Anyone who has been experiencing blocked luck or stagnant life progress Anyone seeking spiritual merit equivalent to major yajnas or gold donations Anyone who wants to offer something truly meaningful to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi during this rare Purushottam Maas
Even if you can only do a partial fast or the shorter version of the puja, any sincere effort made on this day carries tremendous weight. The scriptures are clear: the Divine does not measure the scale of your ritual. It measures the sincerity of your heart.
Final Words
Parama Ekadashi arrives as a rare gift in a rare month. The Purushottam Maas itself is called the month when Lord Vishnu is most easily accessible, most willing to listen, and most generous in his response. Parama Ekadashi inside this month is the crown jewel of the entire calendar.
Do not let this pass without at least lighting a lamp, offering a fruit, and saying one sincere prayer.
